Fat Bike Rentals in Park City

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Our Experts love cycling year round. And Park City's winter trail network is great for getting out on a fat bike. If you're looking to get off the ski slopes for a day or two then stop by and try a fat bike rental. We have a huge fleet of bikes from Specialized and Rocky Mountain with the huge signature fat tires for float and traction in snow.

Where to Ride Fat Bikes in Park City

But where would you ever ride a bike in the winter? Park City is actually very accommodating as far as winter trail riding. While bicycles are not allowed on the private Nordic track at the White Pine Nordic Center, you can take one onto the groomed trail system of Round Valley. Snowshoers, hikers, Nordic skiers, and mountain bikers alike all make great use of Round Valley’s rolling hills and mellow terrain, great for those just trying out a fat bike for an afternoon. A mix of groomed trails, as well as packed singletrack, make for a wide variety of riding options. Round Valley is easily accessed by the Rail Trail and Park City Parkway Trail, an easy 2.7-mile ride from White Pine Touring. Or you can drive there by following Kearns Drive out towards I-40.

Another great area to test out a fat bike is the Glenwild trail network. While this area does not feature groomed trails like Round Valley, enough people hike and snowshoe there to pack out the trail and create a sort of snowy singletrack. The terrain here follows mellow grades up and down. Glenwild is about a ten-minute drive from Park City’s Main Street and is just over the highway from Kimball Junction and adjacent to I-80. There will be trail signs but the actual trails could be hard to follow depending on conditions.

When you rent your fat bike, feel free to ask for directions from our staff or reference the Mountain Trails Winter Map to get a good idea of where to ride.

What to Wear

Fat biking is an aerobic sport and you will want to dress accordingly. You can leave your alpine gear at home. A chamois for comfort is a good place to start. And leg warmers and a thin wool or synthetic baselayer on top will vent hot air and help your maintain a comfortable body temperature. A cycling specific winter jacket will keep cold wind off your chest and core. And shoe booties and cold weather gloves keep your finger and toes warm while allowing you to safely handle the bike. Some of this clothing is similar to Nordic gear but is optimized for pedaling and handling a bike.

All Winter Long

Fat bikes are fun, we’ve told you that before. And Park City is the perfect venue to try out a new winter activity. If you want to get more of a local’s experience, or aren’t excited about the lift lines and crowds of the ski resort, call us or book online and we’ll set you off on a new adventure.
