The extra large brakes on the Freeride Pros are not so you can stop extra fast, you'll have to use your edging skills for that. If your big fat skis are 109 mm to 120 mm underfoot, you will need the Fritschi Diamir Freeride Pro bindings with XL brakes 120 mm. These super hero bindings are known for their efficiency and power. Probably the most user friendly of all the AT binding set ups, the Black Diamond Fritschi Diamir Freeride Pro alpine touring binding makes it easy to glide to the top of any backcountry summit like the pros. With heel lift positions of 1.5 cm, 4.5 cm and 7 cm, there are plenty of height adjustments for comfortably climbing terrain of almost any incline, and switching between them can be done without bending over. If your ski gear budget affords you only one pair of bindings for alpine touring and resort skiing, these are the logical choice because you can rock these inbounds and in the backcountry. The Black Diamond Fritschi Freeride Pro's are compatible with your regular alpine ski oots or with backcountry boots with their thicker lug soles. The Fritschi Freerides have a wide footprint and toe piece hinge for better edge to edge power transfer. Climbing transitions are easy with the four-level heel elevator settings for quick adjustability during slope grade changes in the backcountry.

These bindings are available in short (260-315 mm boot sole), medium (285-340 mm boot sole), and long (330-365 mm boot sole).
  • Gliding Technology with a wide toe piece hinge
  • Power Transmission Control (PTC) technology
  • Max DIN 12, and DIN certified for both alpine touring and alpine boot soles
  • Free gliding heel bar with integrated lock prevents accidental release into touring mode
  • Included brake fits up to 120 mm ski width
Expert Review:

"I like the Fritschi Diamir Freeride Pro bindings because I can keep a steady uphill pace on the skin track. They are not the lightest binding on the market, but they are smooth and I can use them with my regular alpine ski boots so I don't have to have a different set of touring boots for my backcountry adventures."

Skiing MAGAZINE Assessment:

The Pro is built on a wide platform for stability and power transmission on bigger skis. It sits high, which creates some play between the binding and the ski in firmer conditions, but testers declared it the easiest to operate of all the bindings here. It's great for a first-time tourer but won't disappoint advanced skiers either.
