SIZE:

A suitably wide 102 mm waist means the K2 GotBack is super stable underfoot, and much more fun and versatile than those prissy little resort bunny skis. This real woman's ski boasts float, forgiveness, strength, and maneuverability. The progressive sidecut makes big arcs and tight turns equally easy. The K2 GotBack is lightweight with pre-cut skins available (sold separately) for easy hiking up the back and side country. It loves soaring through powder, crust, and crud on the way down. - All Terrain Rocker - 30% rocker for agility combined with 70% camber for stability
- Progressive Sidecut - two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard snow performance.
- Powder-Specific Tip Design - the widest point of a powder tip is 7 cm back from the standard contact point, adding stability and predictability while making the ski less likely to hook or grab in light crusts or variable conditions.
- Tip and Tail Holes - equipped with removable plugs, the attachments points for K2 skins also function as attachment points for building a rescue sled or constructing various ski anchors.
- BIO Core Tech - a blended core of aspen, bamboo, and Paulownia, (a reforestation plantation tree similar to bamboo) that has consistent density, great strength to weight ratio, and fast growth carbon sequestration. The core is just one component of the ski, but the result is 15% weight savings over our traditional fir/aspen cores and a lessened footprint, reducing the impact of the ski on you and the winter world.
- Flat Tails - All Adventure skis come with flat tails, providing backcountry utility by allowing you to plunge the tails easily into firm snow.
- Skin Clip Arc - The tails of our Adventure skis are designed with a concave notch to ensure that the skin clip, regardless of size or skin brand, stays securely centered on the tail.
- Carbon Web - Carbon Web pushes the balance between weight and strength gaining downhill performance without adding additional mass. Located in the tail and the forebody of the skim the Carbon Web increases edge grip when you need it most in the backcountry.
- SnoPhobic Topsheet - Snow collecting on a ski can add weight to a climb. Our SnoPhobic tops keep you light with a new snow repellent topsheet. The running surface along the bottom of a ski is hydrophobic by design, so we've developed a thinner version of the same material to use on the Back model specific topsheets. Applying wax to the topsheet increases snow shedding performance.
- Triaxial Braiding - Triaxial braiding consists of braiding fiberglass around a wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control. Developed in 1988 by K2 engineers, the patented triaxial braiding machine interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled wood core. While flex and torsion vary depending on the wood, Triaxially braided skis share the common traits of ease, forgiveness, responsiveness, and energy in both expert and entry level skis.

Industry Review:

Backpacker MAGAZINE Assessment:
Want a ski that'll float through powder, destroy crud, wiggle between tight trees, and arc a wide variety of both inbounds and out-of-bounds turns-all for a slight weight gain over the Drift and Manaslu? The Coomback (or the women's Gotback) is your one-ski workhorse. Our testers loved both versions for their substantial sidecut (great for easy turn initiation) and tip rocker, which arcs the ski tip off the snow, increasing float and eliminating grab in windblown conditions.
Skiing MAGAZINE Assessment:
The GotBack has the same shovel rocker, and roughly the same cap construction as the Coomback. K2 lightens it up with an aspen/paulownia/bamboo core and thins the profile to make it softer-flexing. Testers said it smears, carves, and even cruises the groomers at lower speeds when needed.
WIldSnow.com Assessment:
I've been using my K2 Gotbacks for almost all my backcountry skiing this winter. This women specific ski is so agile that that I have had a breakthrough year. Effortless in powder and they do incredibly well in everything else. The progressive 14/12 side cut provides versatility - from powder turns to crud. Width and tip rocker keep the tips out from under crust, so even I was able to carve thru wind slab without too many face plants.
