The Patagonia Men's Down Sweater is really much more than a sweater; it blocks wind, insulates warmth, and sheds moisture. 100% recycled polyester shell surrounds 800 fill power premium European goose down insulation, and is treated with Patagonia's durable water repellant finish. This lightweight, highly compressible jacket can stuff into an internal zip pocket that has a carabiner clip in loop, making it great to bring along for climbing, hiking, and canyoneering as a "just in case" layer when conditions may vary, in other words: always. The low bulk Patagonia Men's Down Sweater can function as a smooth, insulating mid layer and can also be worn as outerwear. You can still wear the sweater Grandma knitted you when you go visit her, but other than that, Patagonia's option is really the better of the two. - Deluge DWR Finish - Patagonia's proprietary durable water repellant finish, functions like new even after years of extensive use

Expert Review:
"When building your clothing quiver, this is one of the magic pieces, a must have. The Down Sweater fits into my slack
country pack, climbing pack and my concert pack. So, I can use it when I need a little extra warmth on a back country
tour or out on a cooler summer concert night. You can truly tell who know what they are doing when they have this
jacket."

BACKPACKER MAGAZINE Assessment:
Patagonia's Down Sweater is deceptive, in the best way. It packs down to grapefruit-size, yet pull it on and you feel instant heat. "It does exactly what a lightweight layering piece should do," said our tester. "Envelop you in a near weightless cloud of immediate warmth."
Credit 800-fill down and a wispy 22-denier (recycled) polyester shell fabric that doesn't inhibit quick lofting. "It's light enough that I won't hesitate to pack it as a camp jacket for summer high-mountain trips, and it's so trim that it also makes a great layering piece in deep cold," says our tester.
