Ride Summary

The Lost Prospector loop can be ridden clockwise for a more challenging climb, or counterclockwise so that almost all of the technical challenges are on the downhill portions. This great loop features one of best-loved trails in Park City. It’s suitable for lower intermediate riders who are looking for a challenge or intermediate riders who just love good single-track (and who’d like to be done in less two hours instead of three.) The Lost Prospector loop will have you rolling through the hills of Park City just like they did in the ol’mining days (only you’ll have a bike!)

For the counterclockwise “easier” way, you’ll ride from White Pine Touring through City Park and then up a steep but very short portion of road (about 100 yards) to get to the single track. Once on the single track, there’s a short technical climb where navigation around rocks is required, but only for about one-tenth of a mile. After that, it’s almost all downhill. The ride goes through beautiful aspen groves on fast cross mountain single track and culminates in about a dozen downhill switchbacks known as “Skid Row” which empties you onto the Rail Trail. The ride finishes with a nice gentle paved bike path back to the start. If you are up for it and have the time, just turn around at the bottom of Skid Row and head back up.
