The Tecnica Cochise 120 Ski Boot offers freeski experts a killer package that pulls features and performance from both sides of the resort boundary line. The 120 is the original Cochise, and now the godfather to a collection of Tecnica boots designed to provide the response and power of full-time inbounds boots with the walk mode and comfort of touring boots. Wider than the Inferno series, the Cochise's 100 millimeter last provides the extra volume needed to accommodate foot expansion while hiking and skinning, without being so wide that it creates lateral slippage when edging.

The walk mode, unlike many alpine-derived hybrid boots, provides full range of motion for a smooth uphill stride, while a metal-to-metal lock mechanism translates to zero movement and a full-strength, no-joke 120 flex when in ski mode. Tecnica's three-buckle overlap design utilizes an extra-wide, buckle-actuated power strap at the top of the cuff to distribute pressure evenly around the front of the boot while allowing an open, loose setting for touring, eliminating the hassle of re-positioning catches or adjusting a strap when others are dropping in around you. Finally, swappable soles transform the Cochise 120 from tech/tour to DIN-compatible boots, meaning you can own one pair of ski boots for your standard alpine and your Dynafit/G3/Plum setups. Just because big mountain performance is your priority doesn't mean full touring capability should only exist in a dream -- the Tecnica Cochise 120 Ski Boot proves you can have both.

  • Traditional overlap design with full-range walk mode for backcountry touring
  • Lightweight Triax shell material shaves weight for the uphill
  • Stiff 120 flex provides full-strength alpine performance on the downhill
  • 100 mm last adds comfort for hiking and skinning
  • Three-buckle design with extra-wide Power Lock top strap for four-buckle performance
  • Interchangeable soles for binding compatibility (Tech soles included; DIN soles sold separately)
  • Arch Grip insert under the midfoot for added traction
  • Quick Instep soft inserts for easy on/off
  • Quadra Fit heat-moldable liner for a custom fit experience
  • Shock absorbing heel insert kills harsh vibrations

Please note that at Jans, we believe buying a ski boot should be an interactive process in the store with a trained boot fitter. Jans has a long successful history of custom fitting ski boots and stands behind the value of getting our customers in the correct size and model for their ability.  If, in a rare circumstance, you know exactly what you want, you may purchase a boot from us online.  However, there will be no returns for any reason – no exceptions. We require a separate email tocs@jans.com stating you understand this policy before a boot order will be processed.

  • Industry ReviewPowder Magazine Assessment:
The Cochise 120 is part of a series of freeride boots offered by Tecnica that are just as comfortable lapping the lifts as they are skinning to the peak. These boots come ready with grippy DIN soles for your normal resort day but also have the option of swapping those out for tech soles for a touring setup. The walk/ski mode is easy to engage and allows for a 30-degree range of motion in the upper cuff for comfortable touring. One of the great and unique features is its “fourth” buckle/powerstrap that does a great job of locking your leg in the boot during the descent. Releasing the buckle allows for more movement in the calf and walk mode. I skied this in the 100mm last for my medium volume foot, which is great, but it is also available in a narrower 98mm last and much stiffer version in the Cochise Pro 130.
