Backstory
Shaun Deutschlander learned to ski almost as soon as she learned to walk, which explains why she is now a professional telemark skier. Her mom always said that Shaun was “the West waiting to happen” since she spent her childhood back East walking her bike on hiking trails until she found a section that she could ride. Needless to say, Shaun stuck out like a sore thumb growing up in a suburb of Manhattan where the rest of the kids spent their free time going to the mall. Lucky for us, Shaun’s best friend came to summer camp in Utah where she learned to rock climb. Armed with limited knowledge of the sport, both girls started tying any kind of rope together (often using extension cords) to belay each other on a rock near their houses. This led to Shaun’s love of rock climbing, which together with her mountain biking prowess, makes her an exceptionally talented guide. Also a certified Life Coach, Shaun started her own outdoor wellness guiding company, Inspired Summit Adventures and leads guided hiking and mountain biking tours on Park City’s 400+ miles of trails.

“Shaun is a great ambassador for all the sports that she does because of her knowledge and proficiency. She is one of the best lady mountain bikers I’ve ever seen and can definitely keep up with the boys. Shaun is exuberant, outgoing, has a good work ethic and I’ve never seen her without a smile on her face. There is a reason that she gets repeat clientele when she guides.”
