Fischer went to team athletes, engineers, shop employees, and ski fanatics when they began work on the revamped Ranger line. After 30 months of refining prototypes and eventually bringing the skis to press, Fischer was able to deliver a full suite of top-performing freeride skis. Arguably the most versatile in the lineup, the women's Ranger 102 is a nimble, yet powerful freeride ski with the chops to excel in fresh powder and weeks-old hardpack alike. This versatility is due to a combination of the ski's ultra versatile 102 mm waist and sandwich sidewall construction. The construction consists of a sandwich sidewall layup with a poplar/beech wood core that is supported by a shaped layer of Titanal, giving the ski plenty of backbone to hold a solid edge on hard snow. This also translates to a ski that's surprisingly stable at speed, given how playful and nimble it can be in deep snow and tight trees. If you're the type of skier who likes to sample a bit of everything the mountain has to offer—pick out creative lines while doing so—this is the ski you're looking for.
