Utah Fly Fishing Experts

The Jans Fly Shop in Park City offers a comprehensive selection of performance fly fishing rods, reels, flies, vests, waders and boots. We even sell Utah Division of Wildlife Resources fishing licenses to make sure your fly fishing experience is complete, from start to finish.

Many of Utah’s blue-ribbon waters feature brown and rainbow trout that feed on a wide variety of insects year-round. At Jans, our Experts have decades worth of local fly fishing knowledge to point you in the direction of the most-recent hatches, assist in fly selection and tying, and show you the most rewarding fly fishing areas in the West.

The Experts

Chris 'Wis' Wistner

Chris "Wis" Wistner loved fishing as a kid, but it wasn’t until he moved out West that he discovered his true passion – fly fishing. Wis lives for the anticipation of a fish taking the fly and appreciates the peaceful beauty of casting in mountain streams and rivers.

Russ Coburn

Russ has managed to make fly fishing in exotic locations like the Bahamas, British Columbia, Christmas Island, and Australia part of his job description. An avid fly fisherman, he has also had his fair share of battle scars (more than a dozen orthopedic surgeries and major injuries) from all the years of less Zen-like sports including competitive skydiving, racing motorcycles, and skiing.

Karl 'Jake' Jacobson

What Jake loves with passion: family, friends, Jans, powder, being airborne with skis on his feet, high speed groomed runs, road biking recreationally, a 36" Steelhead, and beer.

Travis Jay Vernon

Travis started fishing as soon as he could walk and instantly became enamored with the sport. The first fish he caught on a fly just happened to be in Chalk Creek when he netted a Bonneville cutthroat trout, the Utah state fish.
