Obermeyer Alpinist Stretch Pant - Men's
I like technical gear, so I have tended towards ski pants from Arc’teryx, Marmot, and Mammut. I viewed Obermeyer as more fashion oriented than performance oriented. That started to change a couple years ago, and the Alpinist Stretch Pants is a perfect example of that with 15K in breathability and 15K in waterproofness, which is great unless you are going to be in the pouring rain for six or eight hours. These pants will handle any snow storm you can throw at them, and with the vents, these insulated pants are comfortable in temperatures all the way up to 40 or 45 degrees unless you are skinning up in the backcountry. I bought a pair of the Alpinist Pants and was surprised to find myself reaching for them more than any of my other ski pants. They are comfortable, warm, dry, and they fit nicely. I should point out that the term “stretch pants” like some may recall from the 1960s is fifty years outdated. These Alpinist Stretch Pants have just enough give to let you move perfectly free on the slopes, but the cut and structure is like that of a normal pair of cargo pants or relaxed fit jeans rather than skinny jeans. They are the most comfortable ski pants I own, and they will surprise you with their technical capabilities.
