Petzl Grigri Belay Device
The grigri from Petzel is an industry standard for a reason. It adds an element of safety to every belay. I have been using one since shortly after I started lead climbing and keep it on my rack no matter what my partner and I are climbing that day. It has an auto lock that can save someones life if your belayer gets knocked out, stung by a bee or worse allowing time to self rescue.
Details
The Grigri is Petzl's climbing belay device with cam-assisted blocking, designed for the gym and crag. Cam-assisted blocking makes belaying easier and more comfortable—when the climber falls, the rope tightens, making the Grigri's cam pivot to pinch and block the rope. It also offers leeway for the brake-side hand position. The Petzl Grigri is simple to use for belaying both lead and top rope climbers.
- Cam-assisted blocking for easier belaying
