Backstory
Russ has managed to make fly fishing in exotic locations like the Bahamas, British Columbia, Christmas Island, and Australia part of his job description. An avid fly fisherman, he has also had his fair share of battle scars (more than a dozen orthopedic surgeries and major injuries) from all the years of less Zen-like sports including competitive skydiving, racing motorcycles, and skiing. Our fearless leader, with a background in finance, Russ is always strategically thinking of ways to grow the Jans business. In fact, jans.com wouldn’t exist without his unflappable belief in a start-up that launched with a mere 2,500 pages and now boasts over 25,000 pages.
“Our Leader! He has continued Jan Peterson's philosophies in specialty retailing – having the most knowledgeable people selling the best products and services. He’s a great leader with an awesome vision for Jans, and compassion for the staff! That's why Jans has over a dozen staff members employed for over 20 years each. And, if you want to travel internationally on an exotic fly-fishing excursion, He's the MAN! He is an awesome steelhead fisherman. Oh yeah, and Russ can also RIP UP the ski slopes.”
