Learn the fundamentals of fly fishing from Jans guide, Molly Winston, in this women’s-only introductory class. We designed this course to be highly accessible, by supplying all the necessary equipment and offering many dates throughout the summer. With small class sizes catered to female anglers, the Women’s Intro to Fly Fishing Lesson provides a comfortable environment for honing your skills on the water.

Meet your instructor, Molly, and your peers at the Jans fly shop at 9:00 AM for a full day (6-8 hours) on the river, to get started with safety tips, fly fishing etiquette, fish handling, and the proper gear, before wadering up and heading to a nearby river. Transportation from the shop to the river and back is not provided. Please bring your own car to follow your guide to the river.

The remainder of the class, approximately three hours, is spent on the water learning how to set up your rig for different conditions or preferences, approach the water, cast, and handle your catch, as well as basic entomology (or insects and their various stages) and deciphering water flows and temperatures.
