Living in Breckenridge with four young boys was the catalyst for Andrea Putt's love of Nordic skiing. It was an easy sport to do with little kids because she and her husband could pull them around and manage them better than on downhill skis. Now that she's an experienced guide, Nordic skiing remains special to her because it's something she's always done with her family. And those boys, who are grown now, are all athletes in their own right. Two of Andrea's sons, Tanner and Christopher, are now competitive road cyclists.
Today, Andrea enjoys both skate and classic skiing, and gets out on the track practically any day she can. "It's a way to get away and be outdoors while getting a good workout," she says, "And you can do it in a short amount of time.” If forced to choose between the two disciplines, the ease of ski maintenance would give skate skiing the edge for Andrea - just snap in and go get your heart rate up.
