Backstory
Ski racing has been a lifetime sport for Bill Skinner. He started as a junior racer back East and skied for the University of Utah before turning pro. Sponsored by Jan Peterson, founder of Jans, Bill sold skis and boots during the week and raced on the weekends. A technical racer, Bill continues to win Slalom races on the Intermountain Masters circuit but insists that “you’re only as good as your last race.” His passion for Masters racing runs deep. Not only has he coached the Park City Masters for 20 years, but Bill is also the National Masters Manager for USSA.
“Bill Skinner and I skied on the pro circuit together for five years. We were both sponsored by Jans. Bill is totally serious. He hates to lose, so that means he doesn’t lose very often. As a racer, he’s a sleeper. All of a sudden he’s got the fastest time. Smooth is fast and that’s Bill. And as a Masters coach, he has a keen eye for technique.”
